Description

Tongue Tie and Osteopathy – Part 2

In Part 2 of this 2 part course the evidence for or against the therapeutic value of a frenotomy will be explored as well as the reasons for the lack of consensus on the subject. This will allow you to position yourself as a manual therapist based on the best levels of evidence. The questions that will be addressed are, among others: when to treat with manual therapy? What is the impact of late referral for specialist assessment? How important is expectation management and wound follow-up after frenotomy?

In the practical element of Part 2, manual therapy techniques that can be used as an alternative or in addition to frenotomy will be presented.

Topics covered

  • When to refer and the importance of timing
  • Expected symptom improvement following frenotomy
  • Snipping (scissors) versus Laser technique
  • Wound aftercare
  • ENT manifestations of TT
  • Evidence (and lack of consensus)
